new rotation...thought it was endocrine but it really is the 'Diabetic Amputation Service.' we basically manage patients that havent controlled their diabetes for years and thus need their extremities cut off... talk about not taking care of yourself. i sound jaded about this because it is ALL PREVENTABLE. and yes, they say they dont have access to healthcare and that is either because they are not educated on HOW they can get it [which is our fault]....or they are just lazy.... medical /medicare covers everything. and if you dont have insurance, you can come to this particular hospital anyways because it is a county facility and we take everyone. insulin for everyone!
ok, rant over. the attending is great, very sweet Romanian man. we get to do consults throughout the hospital and have clinic on Wednesday mornings so we will see a couple of things other than 'the sugars.' long days...but im pretty sure i get my weekends back :)
very ready to be a 4th year....have set up all my ER audition rotations. now just need to fill in the gaps. will be traveling allllll over the country.
